Impaired Operation

A 45 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after police were called to check on the well being of an individual. On Monday, we attended the parking lots in the 1063 Talbot Street retail area after concerns that the individual appeared to be impaired. Upon arrival, the individual was located in their vehicle showing obvious signs of impairment. A standard field sobriety test was conducted to which the individual performed poorly. They were arrested and transported to police headquarters where further testing concluded the individual was impaired by drugs. A search incident to arrest found the individual to be in possession of a prohibited weapon and to be a suspended driver.

As a result, the 45 year old St. Thomas resident was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – Drugs
  • Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
  • Two counts of Drive while Suspended

They were processed and later released on an undertaking with a future court. ST25013839

Assault

St. Thomas police are currently investigating the report of an assault. On Monday, the victim attended police headquarters to report that while walking off of Talbot Street, they were assaulted by an unknown person. CCTV in the area is being reviewed as we continue to investigate. No injuries were reported. ST25013842

An 18 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged after we were called to an altercation on Monday. Just before 12 noon, we were called to an address on Talbot Street to investigate the report of the victim being assaulted by their partner, after a verbal argument had escalated. Through investigation, officers formed grounds to charge the 18 year old with one count of Assault. The accused was notified and later attended police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25013851

Bail Violations 

A 40 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged after failing to comply with their release conditions. On Monday, we were called to check on the well being of an individual. Through investigation, officers learned the 40 year old was in the company of a person they are currently on conditions to not associate with. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST25013829

A 47 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested following an investigation into unwanted communication. On Monday, officers located the individual who had been charged with Failure to Comply with Undertaking after it was learned they had been contacting an individual they are currently on conditions to not speak with. The 47 year old was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25013835

A 32 year old St. Thomas resident is wanted by police after being charged on Monday. The individual has been charged with one count of Failure to Comply with Release Order after it was learned they were violating a non-communication order. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST25013845

Mischief 

A 60 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after causing damage to a store front on Talbot Street. On August 2nd, we were called to the area to investigate the report of an unknown person attending the area and causing damage to items in front of the store. CCTV of the incident was reviewed and the person responsible was identified and located. The 60 year old was charged with two counts of Mischief, processed at police headquarters and later released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25013712/3734

A window has been reported damaged at a business on Talbot Street. On Saturday morning, we were contacted to investigate the report of a rock being thrown through a window. An employee reported noticing the damage when they arrived at work Saturday morning. This remains under investigation. ST25013713

Warrant Arrests

A 45 year old London resident has been arrested. On August 4th, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted on an outstanding warrant with the London Police Service. The individual was arrested and transported to police headquarters where custody was then exchanged with LPS. ST25013862

An 18 year old St. Thomas resident wanted for Mischief has been arrested. On Monday, we were contacted by Elgin OPP who had the individual in their custody on the strength of our outstanding warrant stemming from an incident in 2022 where damaged had been caused at a local school. The individual was transported to STPS HQ where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25013896

A 37 year old Port Stanley resident has been arrested. On Monday, we were contacted the Elgin OPP who had the individual in their custody on the strength of an outstanding warrant with our service. The 37 year old had been charged with Assault with Weapon and Uttering Threats dating back to an incident in November of 2024. Custody was exchanged with STPS and the individual was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST25013901/ST24020320

Theft

$70 of groceries have been reported stolen from a grocery store on Talbot Street. It was reported that two unknown individuals attended the store on August 1st and failed to pay for their cart of groceries. In store video surveillance is being provided to police as we continue to investigate. ST25013709

A $60 package has been reported stolen from an address on Ross Street. On Friday August 1st, the homeowner received notification that their package had been delivered however when they returned home, it had been stolen from their porch. This remains under investigation. ST25013710

A black and orange, Mongoose mountain bike has been reported stolen from an address on Station Street. The bike had been locked and secured at the front of the address. This remains under investigation. ST25013882

A black and white, electric Volt mountain bike has been reported stolen from a retail store on Edward Street. Last night, we were called to the store to investigate the report of the bike being stolen while the owner was inside shopping. Video surveillance is available and being reviewed. ST25013900

RIDE

No infractions were found during a RIDE program in the city early this morning. The St. Thomas Police Service thanks the community for continuing to drive safe and sober. ST25013904
