Theft
Beer and other miscellaneous items have been reported stolen from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Friday August 11th 2023, St. Thomas police were called by store staff who reported an unknown person with brown hair and a brown beard, wearing a grey shirt with a coffee cup image and a Yellowstone ball cap entered the store and put the beer and other items in a Camo backpack. The suspect left the store a short time later making no attempt to pay. ST23014231
A large quantity of make-up has been reported stolen from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Friday August 11th 2023, St. Thomas police were called by store staff who reported an unknown person with blonde hair, wearing grey sweatpants and a black crop top entered the store and filled a green bag with make-up. A belt valued at $40 has been reported stolen from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Monday August 14th, 2023 St. Thomas police were called by store management who reported that on Saturday August 12th, an unknown person wearing a black Carhartt hoodie, jeans and a beige shoes entered the store, selected the belt and left, making no attempt to pay ST23014400

Two Helly Hansen t-shirts valued at $40 have been reported stolen from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Monday August 14th, 2023 St. Thomas police were called by store management who reported that on Sunday August 13th, an unknown person wearing a white t-shirt, jean shorts, sneakers and a black ballcap entered the store, selected the shirts and left, making no attempt to pay. Shoes, 6 pairs of jeans, a denim jacket, a hoodie and socks have been reported stolen from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Monday August 14th, 2023 St. Thomas police were called by store management who reported that on Sunday August 13th, an unknown barefoot person wearing a white t-shirt, jeans and a white ballcap entered the store, selected the items and left, making no attempt to pay. An estimated $2,800 in perfume has been reported stolen from a retail store on Elm Street. On Monday August 14th, 2023 St. Thomas police were called +-by store management who reported that at approximately 6:30 p.m. an unknown person entered the store, took 12 bottles of Dior perfume and left the store without paying. Mischief
$1,000 in damage to a construction vehicle parked at Moore Street and Talbot Street has been reported to police. On Monday August 14th at approximately 3:00 a.m. STPS were called to investigate what was reported as a large construction vehicle idling with all of the lights on. Due to the time of the call, the incident was deem suspicious and officers attended the area. Upon arrival, a 2023 CAT front end loader was found with the window of the cab open and the ignition tampered with. Review of the CCTV cameras in the area showed the loader was entered on Friday night at approximately 8:30 p.m. with several individuals entering the equipment over the course of the weekend. A small storage compound used to secure tools from the construction site was also approached several times by various individuals in the same time frame. This remains under investigation. ST23014375
An estimate $1,000 in damage to vehicle parked on Confederation Drive has been reported to police. On Monday August 14th, 2023 St. Thomas police were called to investigate the incident that occurred sometime between 3:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. The windshield, rear window and drivers side rear window had all been smashed out. Recovered Stolen Vehicle
Thanks to GPS technology and a swift response from police, a stolen construction truck has been recovered. On Monday August 14th, 2023 St. Thomas police were contacted by the construction company who had originally reported the stolen vehicle to OPP. The owner used the GPS technology onboard to try and locate the vehicle when it showed an address within the city limits. STPS attended the area, located the vehicle and had it towed to police headquarter where OPP attended to process the truck. ST23014390
Arrest made in Break and Enter investigation
A 30 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Wednesday July 12th, 2023 officers from the Property Crime Unit entered into an investigation after officers on community patrol were called to investigate a break and enter at a local business. Upon arrival, the back door was found open and the front window was broken. Reported stolen was bottles of alcohol. Through investigation and review of video surveillance and imaging, PCU were able to identify the suspect. The 30 was charged with one count Break and Enter and one count Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. A warrant was issued. On Monday August 14th, 2023 the 30 year old attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on the outstanding warrant. Pedestrian struck by motor vehicle
Just after 12 noon on Monday August 14th 2023, St. Thomas police were called to respond to the reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle. Upon police arrival, it was learned that the pedestrian had been looking for their phone in the area of Ross Street and Forest Avenue when the incident occurred. EMS transported the St. Thomas resident to the hospital for minor injuries. Police continue to investigate. ST23014398
Residential Break and Enter
A full set of Titleist golf clubs, a 24 foot ladder with red and blue on the side and a 28 foot ladder with red and blue on the side have been reported stolen from a home on the north side of the city. On Monday August 14th, 2023 St. Thomas police were called to investigate a break and enter that had occurred between August 12th and 13th. It was reported that an unknown person gained entry to the garage on property by forcing a door open. Once access was gained, the items were removed. This remains under investigation. ST23014412
Found E Bike
An orange City45 Eco Pedal Bike has been recovered by STPS. On Monday August 14th, 2023 St. Thomas police were called by a concerned citizen who believed there to be a break and enter in progress occurring at a garage off of Talbot Street. Upon arrival, police located a 34 St. Thomas resident known to them who subsequently was trespassed from the address. While ensuring the property was secure, the E Bike was located and brought to police headquarters. The bike is seen here:

Possession of Stolen Property and Drugs
A 45 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Monday August 14th, 2023 while dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter police became aware of grounds for arrest in relation to a break and enter investigation where cash and a credit card were stolen. The 45 year old was in possession of the stolen credit at the time of the arrest and police additionally found a small quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine. As a result, the St. Thomas resident has been charged with one count Possession of Stolen Property and one count Possession of Scheduled Substance. Failure to Comply
A 28 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday August 15th, 2023 at approximately 12:09 a.m. St. Thomas police were called to an address on Talbot Street for the report of a small fire. Upon arrival, police located the 28 year old who was known to them to be on conditions to be in their residence between the hours 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. As a result, the 28 year old was arrested and charged with one count Failure to Comply with Undertaking. The individual was transported to police headquarters for morning court and later released with a future court date. ST23014440
