Theft
St. Thomas police are investigating the report of a stolen laptop. On Friday April 5th 2024, police received an online report that a laptop had been stolen from a maintenance room at City Hall. Police are reviewing the available information and video surveillance as they continue to investigate. ST24005333
An Amazon package has been returned to its rightful owner. On Sunday April 7th 2024, police were called to a neighbourhood on the southside of the city to move along an unwanted party. Upon arrival, officers located the individual in question who had been asked to leave the area by several residents. The involved party was in possession of an amazon package that had been delivered to an address in the area. The package was returned to the rightful owner and the individual was moved along. Warrant Arrest
A 45 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Sunday April 7th 2024, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant with our service for two counts Failure to Comply with Release Order. The 45 year old was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24005468
A 53 year old resident of Chatham-Kent has been arrested. On Monday April 8th 2024, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant with our service for one count Operation while Prohibited stemming from an incident in January of 2023. The individual was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24005527
A 53 year old resident of London has been arrested. On Monday April 8th 2024, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant with our service for one count Break and Enter and one count Assault dating back to an incident in November of 2022. The individual was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24005530
Break and enter
St. Thomas police are currently investigating a break and enter that occurred in the 200 block of Talbot Street. On Monday April 8th 2024, police were called by the owner of a hot dog cart that operate downtown, who wished to report that at some point in the overnight hours, the cart has been broken into and a quantity of change and food had been stolen. The incident remains under investigation. ST24005454
Failure to comply
A 39 year old resident of Peterborough has been arrested. On Sunday April 7th 2024, officers were called to an address on the northside of the city to investigate the report of unwanted communication. Through investigation police learned the accused was on conditions to not communicate with the complainant. It was also learned that accused had sent photos of the complainant to a mutual friend without permission. As a result of the investigation, the 39 year old was charged with one count of Failure to Comply with undertaking, one count Distribute Intimate Image without Consent and one count Harassing Communication. The 39 year old was arrested in Peterborough, processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24005482
A 34 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged. On Monday April 8th 2024, police were informed that the individual was attending an address they are on conditions to not attended. Through investigation, officers formed grounds to charge the 34 year old with Failure to Comply with Undertaking. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST24005528
Mischief
A window at a downtown restaurant has been reported damaged. On Monday April 8th, 2024 police were called to the restaurant by the owners who report that an unknown person had attended the front of the business and smashed one of the front windows. The restaurant was closed at the time and no injuries were reported. This remains under investigation. ST24005543
RIDE
Approximately 50 vehicles were stopped and their drivers spoken to during a RIDE check conducted on Sunday evening on the northside of the city. STPS is happy to report no infractions were found. ST24005479
Assault
Two teens have been charge with Assault. On Monday April 8th, 2024 police were called investigate the report of an argument between a group of teens that had escalated resulting in an physical altercation. Through investigation, police formed grounds to charge a 14 year old St. Thomas resident and a 15 year old St. Thomas with one count of Assault. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST24005547
