Impaired Operation
A 44 year old St. Thomas man has been arrested. On Monday, officers on community patrol located a running vehicle with the an individual asleep at the wheel. When checking the individuals well being, officers were concerned he was showing signs of impairment. A standard field sobriety test was conducted with the individual performing poorly. Identified as a 44 year old St. Thomas man, he was charged with Impaired Operation and transported to police headquarters. A search incident to arrest found the accused to be in possession of several pieces fraudulent identification and personal information reported stolen out of Sarnia in 2021. Charged with:
- Operation while impaired – drugs
- Possession of an identity document
- Identity Theft – obtain or possess another persons identity information
- Adult Possession of a forged document with intent
- Possession of unmarked cigarettes
He was processed and later released on an undertaking, a 90 day licence suspension was issued and his vehicle was towed and impounded. ST26005847
Stunt Driving
On April 6th, an officer conducted a traffic stop on Talbot Street after observing a pickup truck operating without a front licence plate. During the stop, the driver became agitated, revved the engine, and attempted to flee while officers were standing beside the vehicle. The vehicle lost traction as it accelerated from the roadside before continuing westbound and being stopped a short distance away. A 62 year old St. Thomas man was charged with Stunt Driving under the Highway Traffic Act. His driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days, and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days. ST26005838
Warrant Arrests
A 19 year old St. Thomas man has been arrested. While dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter, officers were made aware of an outstanding warrant for his arrest held by the Windsor Police Service. WPS was notified and the individual was processed and released on their behalf. ST26005803
A 15 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Monday, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant for Assault with a Weapon stemming from an incident last week. The individual was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST26004932/4839
A 33 year old St. Thomas man has been arrested. On Monday while on an unrelated call for service, officers locate the accused who was known to be wanted by the OPP on an outstanding warrant. OPP were notified, attended and took custody of the individual. ST26005881
RIDE
Of the vehicle stopped and drivers spoken to during a RIDE event in the city early Monday morning, STPS is pleased to share no infractions were found. Thank you for continuing to drive safe and sober. ST26005823
Theft
$130 of groceries have been reported stolen from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Monday, an online report was received in relation to the theft that occurred on April 4th at 9:30 p.m. Video of the incident has been provided to police. ST26005834
