Unwanted person call leads to charges

A 51 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Wednesday September 27th 2023, St. Thomas police were called to a north side address in regard to an unwanted person. Through investigation, it was learned that an altercation between two individuals in a relationship had occurred. The altercation turned physical and police were contacted. Upon arrival, STPS were made aware of multiple guns in the home. The 51 year old was called out of the house by police and was arrested without incident.

As a result, a St. Thomas resident has been charged with:

  • One count Utter threats cause death or bodily harm
  • One count Assault
  • One count Possession of prohibited device or ammunition

Due to the nature of the incident STPS reattended the address and seized a total of 13 guns and several boxes of ammunition.

Once processed on the charges, the 51 year old was released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST230117189

Assault

A 58 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Wednesday September 27th, 2023 St. Thomas police were called to a residence on the southwest side of the city in regard to an active disturbance involving multiple parties. Upon arrival, police located the victim who reported being punched by a tenant of a shared residence. As a result, a 58 year old was arrested and charged with one count Assault. The individual was transported to police headquarters where they were processed on their charges and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST2307213

Crypto Fraud

A St. Thomas resident has lost approximately $14,000 to a crypto currency scam. On Wednesday September 27th, 2023 St. Thomas police were contacted by the victims son, who reported his father had fallen victim to a scam. Through investigation it was learned that the victim approached his son in the summer expressing the desire to start investing in crypto currency. An account was set up and money was transferred to the account for investment purposes. Yesterday, it was revealed that the account had been drained after several transactions to and from various bank accounts not associated to the victim. It was also learned that the victims computer had been breached and a remote access application was running. This remains under investigation. ST23017193

Found Bicycle

A black and orange Hyper youth mountain bike has been turned over to police. On Wednesday September 27th, 2023 St. Thomas police were contacted in regard to the bike, found in a gully near Elizabeth Street. STPS attended to retrieve the bike. 3 day suspension

A 58 year old London resident has been issued a 3 day driving suspension after attending police headquarters on an unrelated matter. While dealing with the individual, attending officers detected the smell of alcohol and an ASD request was made. The 58 year old registered a warn and was served a 3 day suspension. ST23017212

Assault Complaint

A 42 year old resident of no fixed address has been arrested. On Wednesday September 27th, 2023 St. Thomas police responded to the complaint of a possible assault that occurred at a restaurant on Talbot Street. Through investigation it was learned staff of the restaurant tried to move along an unwanted party who was causing a disturbance. STPS located the individual and learned of an outstanding warrant with Stratford police. The 42 year old was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters where they were processed on the warrant and served a trespass notice and subsequently released. ST23017222
