Arrest made in theft from a motor vehicle

St. Thomas, ON – Thursday September 28th 2023

As the result of an investigation into a theft from a motor vehicle, 33 year old Aaron Watt has been arrested.

On Tuesday September 26th 2023, St. Thomas police were called to investigate a theft that occurred from a commercial motor vehicle. It was reported that sometime between September 22nd and the morning of September 26th, a commercial work truck parked in the Southwick Street public parking lot was entered and had specialized tools and personal protective equipment stolen.

The total value of the items stolen exceeds $8,000.

STPS Property Crime Unit entered into the investigation and we’re able to locate two of the stolen items on the popular buy and sell site, Facebook Marketplace. As a result Watt was arrested and charged with:

  • One count Trafficking in stolen goods
  • One count Possession of property obtained by crime
  • One count Fail to comply with probation order

He was transferred to police headquarters where he was processed on the charges and held for a court appearance where he was then released by the courts with a future court date.
