Mischief 

A 44 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after an alert citizen contacted police. On Wednesday October 23rd 2024, it was reported that an unknown person was causing damage to metal signs in the 1063 Talbot Street retail plaza. Officers attended the area and located an individual matching the description provided to police. Through investigation, police learned the individual was wanted by our service on an outstanding probation warrant, issued in 2022. As a result, the 44 year old St. Thomas resident was charged with one count of Mischief under $5,000 and one count of Obstruct Peace Office after initially providing a false name. The individual was transported to police headquarters where they were processed to attend court and subsequently release by the courts. ST24019247

A vehicle parked in the 400 block of Talbot Street has been reported damaged. On Wednesday October 23rd 2024, the vehicle owner called police to report that while parked, their vehicle had been punched and damaged by an unknown individual. Officers are reviewing available CCTV as they continue to investigate. ST24019264

A window to a business has been reported damaged. This morning, police were contacted by the security company of a business in the 400 block of Talbot Street who wished to report at that at approximately 1:30 a.m. an unknown individual attended the area and smashed a window. Video surveillance of the incident is being reviewed as police continue to investigate. ST24019297

Theft 

A 23 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after police were called to investigate a shoplifting incident. On Wednesday October 23rd 2024, officers attended a business in the 1010 Talbot Street retail plaza for the report of an unknown person leaving the area with a bottle of liquor they failed to pay for. Police reviewed video of the incident and identified the suspect, who was located a short distance away. The 23 year old St. Thomas resident was charged with Theft under $5,000 and 3 counts of Failure to Comply with Probation Order. The individual was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24019273

A 39 year old St. Thomas resident is wanted by police after being identified as the person responsible for stealing approximately $50 of merchandise from a retailer on Talbot Street. Officers reviewed video of the incident and identified the individual who has been charged with one count of Theft under $5,000. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST24019293

Stolen Vehicle 

St. Thomas police are currently investigating the report of a stolen vehicle. On Thursday October 24th 2024, the vehicle owner attended police headquarters to report that their dark grey, 2010 Toyota Rav 4 had been stolen from the parking lot of 1063 Talbot Street. Through investigation officers learned the vehicle was having battery issues and had been parked since Monday evening.
