Warrant arrests 

A 34 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Wednesday March 6th 2024, officers on community patrol were dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter when they became aware of an outstanding warrant with our service for Assault, Arson and Failure to Comply with Undertaking stemming from incidents in 2023. The 34 year old was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an appearance notice. ST24003613

A 33 year old Hamilton resident has been arrested. On Wednesday March 6th 2024, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant with our service for one count of Harassment dating back to an incident from 2022. The 33 year old was processed and released with a future court date. ST24003619

A 21 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Wednesday March 6th 2024, officers located the individual known to them to be wanted on an outstanding warrant with our service for Failure to Comply with Probation Order and Possession of a Prohibited Device. The individual was processed and released on an appearance notice. ST24003654

A 38 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Thursday March 7th 2024, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted on an outstanding warrant with our service for Failure to Comply with Probation Order. The individual was transported to police headquarters where they were additionally charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and 3 counts of Failure to Comply with Probation Order. The 38 year old was processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST24003657

Vehicle entry

Approximately $950 of property including designer sunglasses, boots and a jacket along with the vehicle ownership documents have been reported stolen. On Wednesday March 6th 2024, the owner of a vehicle that was parked on Southwick Street contacted police to report that sometime in the overnight hours, their vehicle had been entered and the property taken. This remains under investigation. ST24003614

Theft

A 46 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Wednesday March 6th 2024, officers were called to investigate the report of a bank card that had been reported stolen in an earlier vehicle entry, being used at a variety store on Talbot Street. Through investigation, police were able to identify and locate the individual who had used the card. The 46 year old has been charged with one count of Use of Credit Card. The individual was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24003604

St. Thomas police are looking to identify the individual in the photo below in relation to a shoplifting incident. On Wednesday March 6th 2024, officers were called to a retail store on Talbot Street to investigate the report of an unknown individual leaving the store with a cart full of merchandise they failed to pay for. Protecting yourself from fraud

In an ongoing effort to help protect the residents of St. Thomas from falling victim to online scams and fraud, the St. Thomas Police Service would like to remind the community on ways to protect themselves and things to consider while online:

  • Always get a second opinion from family or friends regarding the situation
  • Always verify the person you are corresponding with is legitimate
  • No employer will reach out to you through apps like Whats App
  • If you receive a call from someone claiming to be a family member or relative, hang up and call the number you have for them.
  • No employer will ask you to invest your own money or purchase gift cards.
  • Use the Canadian Anti- Fraud Centre as a resource to familiarize yourself with current scams and additional ways to protect yourself

And remember if it seems suspicious, it likely is.
