Vehicle Entry/Theft
A set of golf clubs valued at $4,000 has been reported stolen after an early morning vehicle entry. At approximately 5:00 a.m. this morning police were called to an address on the southside of the city, to investigate the report of an unknown person smashing the window of a vehicle and stealing the golf clubs. Video surveillance of the incident is being reviewed as police continue to investigate. ST24012804
Mischief
A 40 year old St. Thomas resident was arrested last night after police were called to a disturbance at a local business. Officers were called to the business to investigate the report of an individual failing to pay for the items they ordered and breaking a window when asked to leave by staff. The individual had left the area prior to police arrival, but was located at short distance away and taken into custody. As a result, the 40 year old St. Thomas resident was charged with one count of Mischief and one count of Theft under $5,000. The individual was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24012776
Warrant Arrests
A 41 year old St. Thomas resident, wanted by police after being charged with two counts of Assault and two counts of Failure to Comply with Probation Order after an incident of intimate partner violence the day prior, has been arrested. On Wednesday July 24th 2024, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in. The 41 year old was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. A 46 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Wednesday July 24th 2024, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant with our service for two counts of Assault, Mischief, Fail to Comply with Probation and Breach of Probation stemming from several incidents earlier this year. The 46 year old was processed, transported to the Elgin County Courthouse and remanded into custody. ST24012734
A 36 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after police were called in regard to an unwanted person on St. Catherine Street. Upon arrival, officers located the individual known to them to be wanted by our service on an outstanding warrant for Mischief in relation to an incident in May. A 34 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Wednesday July 24th 2024, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted on an outstanding warrant with our service for Theft under $5,000 after being identified as the person responsible for a bike theft in May. A 36 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Thursday July 25th 2024, officers were called to investigate a theft that occurred. Police arrived to the call that involved an individual known to be wanted by our service on an outstanding warrant for Robbery and two counts of Failure to Comply Probation. The 36 year old was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST24012795
Break and Enter
St. Thomas police are currently investigating a break and enter that occurred in the industrial area of the city. On Wednesday July 24th 2024, police were called in regard to a business being entered and a quantity of copper wire and valves being stolen. Through investigation, officers learned access had been gain to the building sometime after July 10th. This remains under investigation. ST24012728
