Impaired Operation

A 72 year old St. Thomas man has been arrested following a traffic stop in the city on Wednesday afternoon. At 4:30 p.m. officers from the dedicated Project Home Safe platoon were conducting mobile sobriety checks and stopped the vehicle to speak with the driver. A roadside screening device registered a fail and the man was arrested. While at police headquarters, additional breath samples confirmed the individual to be in excess of the legal limit, providing samples of 104mg/100ml and 101mg/100ml. The 72 year old was subsequently charged with Impaired Operation plus 80, processed and later released. His vehicle was towed and is subject to a 7-day impound and his license has been suspended for 90 days. ST25022383

Warrant Arrest

A 57 year old St. Thomas man has been arrested. On Wednesday, while dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter at the Elgin County Courthouse, officers were made aware of an outstanding warrant for his arrest after he was charged with Driving while Suspended during a traffic stop in October. The individual was processed and later released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25022375

Theft

A 42 year old St. Thomas man has been arrested. On Wednesday evening, officers were called to a retail store on Talbot Street to investigate the report of an unknown individual failing to pay for his items. Officers attended the area and located the accused who was charged with Theft under $5,000. While being processed, officers were made aware of an outstanding warrant for the individual who had been charged with Theft under $5,000 in relation to a shoplifting incident from October. He was transported to police headquarters, processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST25022389/22390

$275 of merchandise has been reported stolen from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Wednesday evening, police were called to investigate a shoplifting incident that had occurred earlier in the day. It was reported that two unknown women failed to pay for their items. Video of the parties involved and the vehicle they left in has been provided to police. This remains under investigation.
