Assault and harassment 

A 44 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Friday October 13th 2023, STPS arrested the individual as a result of an investigation. The 44 year old was charged with 4 counts of Assault, 1 count Forcible Confinement and 1 count Harassment. The St. Thomas resident was transported to police headquarters where they were processed on the charges and released with a future court date. ST23018153

Theft

A truck hitch valued at $1,000 has been reported stolen. On Friday October 13th 2023, St. Thomas police were contacted by the owner of the truck who reported that in the overnight hours of October 8th, the hitch had been removed from the truck that had been parked at an address on Redan Street. Video surveillance is being reviewed as STPS continue to investigate. ST23018199

A Nintendo game console, controller, laptop bag and portable charger has been reported stolen.  On Saturday October 14th 2023, STPS were contacted by the owner of the items who reported that the theft occurred sometime in the last 7 days from an address on Station Street. ST23018243

$35 worth of groceries has been reported stolen. On Sunday October 15th 2023, police were called to a variety store on Talbot Street to investigate the theft. Upon arrival, officers reviewed the available video and confirmed an unknown person wearing a black hoodie and face mask entered the store, selected the items and proceeded to leave without paying. R.I.D.E

Approximately 225 drivers were spoken to during a RIDE check on Friday October 13th, 2023. Four road side screenings were conducted, all registering a pass.  No other infractions were found. ST23018208

Fail to stop

A vehicle travelling 124 km/hour in a 60 km/hour zone, failed to stop for police. On Saturday October 14th 2023, Officers conducting speed enforcement observed the vehicle travelling at a high rate speed. Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop however, the vehicle failed to pull over and continued speeding away from police. The license plate was obtained and police continue their attempt to locate the vehicle and its driver. ST23018242

Replica firearm

A replica firearm has been seized. On Saturday October 14th 2023, St. Thomas police were called to the Oktoberfest celebrations downtown to investigate the report of an individual in the area with what appeared to be a gun. Upon arrival, police located the individual who was dressed in black clothing, imitation body armour and a face covering. The individual was in possession of a replica revolver. Through investigation, it was learned that the outfit was a costume related to a Call of Duty game character. The individual was cooperative with the police and was educated on the potential perception and risks of wearing this type of costume in public.  ST23018246

Mischief 

The drivers side window of a vehicle has been reported smashed. On Sunday October 15th 2023, the owner of the vehicle contacted police to report that sometime overnight, the vehicle that was parked on Wright Crescent had its window damaged. Police attended the area and observed the drivers window to be completely broken.  ST23018288

Warrant 

A 45 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Sunday October 15th 2023, the 45 year old attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant for Failure to Comply with Release Order. The St. Thomas resident was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST23018290

Assault with a weapon

A 57 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with Assault with a Weapon and Uttering Threats after police were called to a disturbance on Sunday October 15th, 2023.  Just before 6 p.m. officers were called to an address on Pearl Street to investigate the report of someone being attacked with a knife. Upon arrival, STPS were able to call the accused out of the residence, safely. The 57 year old was arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing and will have a future court date. There were no reported injuries in this incident.  ST23018314
