Overdose Investigation Results in Trafficking Charge

On Sunday morning officers attended a downtown address after receiving a report of a female in medical distress following a suspected drug overdose. Upon arrival, CPR had been initiated prior to the arrival of EMS who then transported the individual to the hospital for further treatment.

Officers secured the scene and initiated an investigation. Through video review and follow up, police determined that the female had obtained and consumed a quantity of suspected Carfentanil immediately prior to collapsing.

As a result of the investigation, a 49 year old St. Thomas woman has been charged with one count of Trafficking in a Schedule I Substance. This charge is directly related to the overdose investigation. The accused was arrested and later released on an undertaking with a future court date. The individual who overdosed remains in stable condition. ST26003545

Bail Violations 

A 53 year old St. Thomas man has been arrested. On Saturday morning, officers were called to an address on Chestnut Street for the report of an unwanted person. Upon arrival, the 53 year old was located with an individual they are currently on conditions to not associate with. As a result, he was charged with four counts of Failure to Comply with Release Order and one count of Failure to Comply with Probation. The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and later released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST26003475

Assault 

Just before 1:30 a.m. this morning, police were called to attend an address on Chestnut Street to investigate the report of an assault that had occurred. Upon arrival, the victim was located with minor injury and transported to the hospital. Through investigation, officers learned an ongoing dispute between the victim and two individuals had escalated resulting in the assault. Video of the incident was provided to police who have charged a 32 year old St. Thomas women with Assault with a Weapon and a 53 year old St. Thomas man with Assault with a Weapon, Uttering Threats, Failure to Comply with Undertaking and two counts of Failure to Comply with Release order. A warrant for their arrests have been requested. ST26003572

Fraud Investigation – Gift Card Scam

St. Thomas police are investigating the report of a gift card scam. On Sunday, officers were called to a retail store on Talbot Street for the report of four male suspects who had distracted staff while activating gift cards, switching the cards and then cancelling their purchase, resulting in a loss of approximately $1,000.

It was reported that the suspects then left the area in a green Audi, which was later determined to be a rental vehicle.

The suspects are described as four adult males, with two believed to be in their late forties with grey beards. All were dressed similarly at the time of the incident. Video has been provide to police as this remains under investigation. ST26003538

Theft 

St. Thomas police are investigating the report of property reported stolen in a vehicle entry from February, being listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace. The sellers information was provided to police. ST26003496

Lights from a backyard on Balaclava Street have been reported stolen. On Sunday, officers attended the address to investigate the incident that occurred sometime between Friday night and Sunday morning. ST26003524

An Amazon package, valued at $120 has been reported stolen. On Sunday, officers attended a southside apartment building to investigate the report of the package being delivered but not received by the rightful owner. A photo of the delivery was provided however the package was gone. ST26003551
