Vehicle Entries 

Two St. Thomas residents have had their property returned after a good Samaritan called police. On Friday June 7th 2024, officers were called to an address on Elm Street by a resident who reported finding two wallets on their property. Through investigation, police learned both wallets were stolen from the vehicles of nearby neighbours. Officers located the individuals and returned their wallets. ST24009521/9522

Theft

A 52 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after being identified as the person responsible for a shoplifting incident at a retail store on Talbot Street. On Friday June 7th 2024, officers were called to the retail store to investigate the report on an unknown person attending the store and leaving with approximately $100 of merchandise. Through investigation, officers identified the individual who was later located and charged with one count of Theft under $5,000. The 52 year old was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24009536

A 68 year old St. Thomas resident is wanted by police after being identified as the person responsible for stealing merchandise from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Sunday June 9th, officers were called to investigate the report of an unknown individual who had left the store without paying for their items. Police reviewed video surveillance of the individual who was known to police as the 68 year old resident. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST24009680

Recovered Motor Vehicle 

A pickup truck has been recovered after being reported stolen from an address in the city on Sunday June 9th 2024. Just after 11:00 p.m. last night, STPS were notified by Tillsonburg OPP that the truck and its driver had been located. An 18 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime in relation to the incident. The vehicle was returned and the individual was released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24009678

Fraud

A St. Thomas resident is out approximately $50,000 after falling victim to a scam. Through investigation police learned that a victim received a phone call in regard to a purchase made online. It was reported that the victim was instructed to click a link sent to them in order to dispute the online purchase. This action allowed the scammer to access the individuals computer and subsequently their banking information. This remains under investigation. ST24009540
