Theft of License Plate

Officers are investigating the theft of a personalized license plate from a Scott Street parking lot.  Sometime in the early morning hours of Friday July 5th, the victim in this matter noticed their rear license plate removed.  The personalized plate ‘NEDSTAR’ had been removed, assumed stolen, from the rear of the vehicle.  There are no suspects in this matter and it remains under investigation.  ST24011388

Mischief Investigation

A local 21 year old, who was in custody and appearing in court, has found himself with an additional mischief charge after a court appearance Friday.  While in cells the man caused damage to the cell in which he was being held.  He was charged with Mischief and will appear in court on a future date. Warrant Arrests

A local 32 year old man was arrested early Saturday morning after being found in a taxi cab.  The man was wanted on outstanding charges and a warrant had been issued for his arrest.  He would later be released with a future court date. ST24011451

Early Sunday morning after receiving a complaint about a possible break-in, a local 39 year old man was arrested.  The man was wanted on 5 separate warrants.  He was held in custody for Weekend and Statutory Holiday Court.  ST24011532

Roadside Refusal

A 52 year old St. Thomas woman has been arrested and charged following an incident early Saturday morning.  Passersby had called with concerns of a woman apparently asleep at the wheel of her car at a downtown address.  When officers arrived on scene they requested she provide a breath sample into the roadside screening device.  The women refused and was arrested.  She was provided with a future court date, an administrative driver’s license suspension and her vehicle was impounded.  The penalty for refusing a roadside screening device is similar to that of being charged with operation in excess of 80 mgs of alcohol.  Similar penalties are incurred as well as license suspensions and impound fees.  ST24011452

Update on Mitchell Street Fail to Remain Investigation

On Saturday afternoon, officers in the Mitchell Street area were conducting follow-up investigations regarding a previously reported fail to remain collision, when a male approached them.  This same male identified himself as the driver of the vehicle.  After some discussion and procedural steps, the 33 year old Bracebridge man was arrested.  The man has been charged with Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle contrary to the criminal code and Failing to Report a collision contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.  The man was later released with a future court date.  ST24011449
