Multiple Arrests 

A 52 year old St. Thomas resident attended police headquarters on Thursday May 4th 2023 to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant for Theft Under $5,000. The charge was laid after a shoplifting incident that occurred in February. The individual was processed and released on an appearance notice. ST23007361

A 51 year old St. Thomas resident was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant with our service. Officers on community patrol were called to a downtown location on Thursday May 4th  2023, for an unrelated concern when they located the wanted individual. The 51 year old was made aware of the warrant for Failure to Comply with Release Order. They were arrested without incident and released on an appearance notice. ST23007383

A 43 year old St. Thomas resident wanted on several charges in relation to an incident earlier this week, has been arrested. On Thursday May 4th 2023, St. Thomas police were aware of the location of the wanted individual, subsequently locating and arresting them. The individual was taken into custody without incident and transported to police headquarters where they were held for court. ST23007391/ST23007207

A 37 year old St. Thomas resident attended police headquarters on Thursday May 4th 2023 to turn themselves on an outstanding warrant related to several incidents dating back to 2022. The 37 year old was place under arrest and processed, later released on an undertaking. ST23007413

A 37 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after officers were called to a downtown location over a concern for an individual who appeared to be heavily intoxicated. On Friday May 5th 2023, just before 2:00 a.m. STPS attended the area and were able to locate the person in question. While dealing with the individual, officers were made aware of an outstanding warrant with our service for Possession of Stolen Property and Failure to Report Accident.  The 37 year old was place under arrest and transported to police headquarters where they were held for court. A 29 year old St. Thomas resident who called police on an unrelated matter, has been arrested. On Friday May 5th at 3:30 a.m. police were called to provide assistance in retrieving a stolen phone. STPS attended the requested location and upon arrival encountered a 29 year old known to police to have an outstanding warrant for two counts of Assault. As such,  they were made aware of the warrant, placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where they were held for court. The stolen phone was not retrieved. ST23007425

Arson Investigation 

St. Thomas Police are investigating an arson. On Friday May 5th 2023, just after 3:00 a.m. officers were dispatched to meet St. Thomas Fire at the location of a camper fire. Upon arrival, the fire had been extinguished and through investigation a description of the suspect was obtained. Police are continuing their investigation. ST23007424

Grandparents scam

Thanks to an alert bank employee, a recent Grandparent scam has been intercepted but not without a financial loss. On Thursday May 4th 2023, St. Thomas Police were called to a local bank after staff believed that one of their customers was in the midst of a scam. Through investigation it was learned that a St. Thomas resident was attempting to make a withdrawal of cash to help their Grandson, who contacted them the day before stating they had been pulled over by police and needed the cash to be released. This claim was proven to false and the caller was not the victims Grandson. The victim is out a total of $8,400 and police are continuing to investigate. ST23007385
