Two Charged with Impaired Operation in Separate Incidents
Incident 1: A 52-year-old male has been arrested and charged with impaired operation after officers conducting routine patrol discovered him passed out behind the wheel in a parking lot on Saturday morning.
Upon arrival, officers observed the vehicle’s door ajar with the driver’s leg hanging outside. After waking the individual, police noted signs of impairment during their initial interaction. A standardized field sobriety test was conducted, and based on the driver’s poor performance, he was placed under arrest.
The male was transported to police headquarters for further evaluation by a drug recognition expert. Following the investigation, he was formally charged with impaired operation and released with a future court date. ST25008262
Incident 2: Later that afternoon, police responded to a parking lot following reports of a collision involving a parked vehicle. The caller reported that the driver, a 55-year-old male, had struck a stationary vehicle and was now slumped over the steering wheel.
Upon arrival, officers found the vehicle parked across two spaces. The driver was reclined in his seat, smoking a cigarette. He was immediately arrested for impaired operation and transported to police headquarters for breath testing. However, he refused to exit his cell and declined to provide breath samples despite multiple opportunities to do so.
As a result, the male has been charged with impaired operation, as well as refusing to comply with a lawful demand for a breath sample. He was later released with a future court date.
