Recovered Stolen Vehicle
On the morning of January 31st, police recovered a stolen motor vehicle that had been abandoned in a public parking lot for several weeks. The 2024 Mitsubishi RVR, fitted with stolen licence plates, was observed by a vigilant member of the public who reported it to police. Investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen from an address in London. Subsequently, the vehicle was towed to a secure location, and the London Police Service was notified of its recovery. ^ST25001767
Fraud
A St. Thomas resident has lost $9,000 over two weeks after falling victim to a scam. The victim had agreed to an online job offer to provide reviews for online products and was instructed to deposit funds multiple times in order to ‘unlock’ her wages. The fraudulent business communicated primarily through WhatsApp. The case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigations Branch for further investigation. Warrant Arrests
A 36-year-old St. Thomas man was arrested under a warrant issued by the London Police Service (LPS) for assault and failure to comply with a court order. At the request of the LPS, officers visited a residence in St. Thomas to inform the man of the charges against him. The man was taken into custody without incident and transported to the London Police headquarters to face his charges. ^ST25001820
A 32-year-old St. Thomas man was arrested on a first-instance warrant for causing a disturbance and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The charges stem from an incident earlier in the week. The man was taken to police headquarters and is being held pending a court appearance. ^ST25001853
$2200 in Merchandise Stolen
A local business suffered a loss of over $2,200 after a shoplifting incident on Saturday afternoon. Two males and two females entered the store, filled bags with personal hygiene products, and left without making any attempt to pay. The shoplifters departed in an unidentified vehicle parked some distance from the store. Police have obtained preliminary still images of the suspects and are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying them.
