Shoplifting Incidents
On Saturday, police responded to reports of shoplifting at the Elgin Mall. A 54 year old male, known to police from previous thefts, was captured on video stealing items from multiple businesses. Stolen property was recovered nearby, but the suspect remains outstanding. A warrant is being sought for Theft Under $5000 x3 and Fail to Comply with Probation. Incident #ST25022160
Later the same day, police were called to a business in the 1000 block of Talbot Street. Staff observed a male filling a cart with numerous items, including an e scooter and alcoholic beverages, before leaving without paying. The theft was recorded on surveillance video, which is being reviewed to identify the suspect. Incident #ST25022174
Intimate Partner Violence
On Saturday, police responded to a dropped 911 call at a residence in the city’s north end. Upon arrival, officers heard a disturbance inside. A 25 year old female was arrested for Assault and later released with a future court date. Incident #ST25022161
Warrant Arrests
On Saturday, members of the London Police Service arrested a 39 year old female on a bench warrant issued by STPS for failing to attend court on charges of Impaired Driving and Possession of a Controlled Substance. She was released on behalf of STPS with a new court date. Incident #ST25022162
Later that evening, members of the Ontario Provincial Police arrested a 27 year old male on a bench warrant after failing to attend court on charges of Assault, Assault with a Weapon, and Theft Under $5000. He was released on behalf of STPS with a new court date. Incident #ST25022189
Impaired Driving
In the early hours of Sunday, police conducted a traffic stop. A 17 year old driver registered a “fail” on a roadside breath test and was transported to headquarters. Two subsequent breath samples registered 140 and 130, well above the legal limit. The youth was charged with Impaired Operation – 80 Plus and released to a guardian with a future court date. Shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday, police arrested a 37 year old male following a roadside breath test “fail”. Two further samples registered 110 and 100. He was charged with Impaired Operation – 80 Plus and released with a future court date. Incident #ST25022201
