Vehicle Entries / Mischief

Five vehicles at a local car dealership were entered overnight Thursday. While some were left unlocked, others had their windows smashed by the suspect(s) to gain entry. In a separate case, another vehicle parked at a business on Edward St. had its window shattered overnight. No items were reported stolen. Incident ST25007712

Break and Enter

Approximately $1,000 worth of copper wiring was stolen from an industrial zone property overnight Thursday. The suspect(s) cut through a fence to gain access to the compound. If you have any information, call 519-631-1224 or submit a tip at www.stthomas-elgincrimestoppers.ca. Incident ST25007710

Shoplifting Incidents

A business in the 1000 block of Talbot St. suffered a loss of nearly $700 after a female suspect loaded a shopping cart with merchandise and walked out without attempting to pay. Incident ST25007747

Around the same time, another shop in the same area reported a theft. A female suspect stole $13 worth of candy before leaving without payment. The 46-year-old suspect was identified through store surveillance and arrested a short time later. She was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and issued an Appearance Notice for a future court date. She was later handed over to Stratford Police for an outstanding warrant. Incident ST254007750

Warrant Arrests

A 34-year-old female was arrested Friday afternoon after police responded to reports of a suspicious woman capturing a pigeon on Talbot St. Officers recognized her as being wanted on outstanding warrants. She was arrested without incident and charged with two counts of Theft Under $5,000 before being released with a future court date. The pigeon was unharmed and released back into the wild. Later that evening, officers on routine patrol located a 49-year-old male wanted on an unendorsed bench warrant related to a break and enter from June of last year. He was arrested without incident and taken to police headquarters to await a court appearance. Incident ST25007754

Bail Violations

A 18-year-old male was taken into custody Friday afternoon after his surety reported he was violating the terms of his release order, including household and court-mandated conditions. He was arrested without incident and remains in custody pending his court hearing. Incident ST25007728
