Vehicle Entry (Attempt)

Police are reminding the public to lock their vehicles and take all valuables inside after an unknown person was captured on video attempting to enter a vehicle late on Thursday night. The attempt vehicle entry occurred at approximately 11:40pm on East St. ^0698

Bail Violations

A 32 year old St Thomas man was arrested Friday morning after he attended an address he is not to attend as per a previous release order from the court. The man was transported to the Colin McGregor Building where he was processed and later released by the court. ^0699

Domestic Assault

On Friday morning a St Thomas resident called 911 call reporting that her estranged partner had attended her residence. The 39 year old man forced his way inside the home where he assaulted the caller and damaged property. The male fled prior to police arrival but was located a short distance away and taken into custody. The male is charged with Assault, Mischief, Fail to Comply with Release Order x 3, and Fail to Comply with Probation. He was transported to the Colin McGregor Building, brought before the court, and has been remanded into custody. ^0700

Disqualified Driving

On Friday afternoon police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Centre Street. While investigating the collision, police learned that one of the drivers was prohibited from driving due to a previous conviction for impaired driving. The 34 year old Glencoe man was arrested and charged with Operation while Prohibited and the vehicle he was driving was impounded for 45 days. The man was released on an Appearance Notice with a future court date. ^0725

Assault

On Friday evening a local St Thomas woman attended the police station to report a historical assault that occurred in December of 2022. Following the investigation, police have reasonable grounds to charge a local youth with Assault and Fail to Comply with Probation. A warrant will be requested. ^0738

Warrant Arrests

On Friday evening police were called to a north end home for reports of an unwanted male. Police attended and located a 30 year old male, known to be wanted by the Elgin OPP. The male was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and transported to the Elgin OPP detachment. ^0749

Shortly before 3am on Saturday, police responded to a call for service in the downtown core. One of the involved parties was a 55 year old female whom police recognized as being wanted on an outstanding bench warrant. The warrant was issued after the female failed to attend court to answer to charges of Assault and Fail to Comply with Undertaking. The female was transported to the Colin McGregor Building where she was processed and held for morning court. ^0760
