Media release for Monday September 1st 2025

Intimate partner violence

In the late hours of August 30th, we were called to a south end address for reports of a physical altercation between a couple who had just returned home from a night out drinking. Investigation revealed a 32 year old St. Thomas resident assaulted their 29 year old partner where the victim suffered minor injuries. We arrested the accused and transported them back to the STPS station where they were charged with domestic assault & held for morning WASH court (Weekend and Statutory Holiday). ST25015658

Shoplift

We were called to a downtown grocery store for reports of a theft where an unknown male had entered and concealed a number of items before leaving without making any attempt to pay. The incident remains under investigation while we check store video footage. ST25015676

Intimate partner violence and bail violations

We completed an investigation into an Intimate partner violence related breach. Following an investigation on August 31st, we formed grounds to charge & arrest a 37 year old male who was communicating with an ex that he was on conditions not to contact. The male was transported to the Police station where he was held for WASH court. ST25015698

Warrant

Oxford OPP arrested a 34 year old male wanted on an outstanding STPS bench warrant issued after the male had missed a previous court date. We took custody of the male and held him at the STPS station for morning WASH court. ST250717

Impaired

We received a call from a concerned citizen about a possible impaired driver travelling within the city. We were able to locate the vehicle in question where the driver was spoken to. After we observed signs of impairment, we conducted a Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) where the driver performed poorly. The driver was subsequently arrested and brought back to the station for further testing where further evidence was gathered to support that the driver was impaired by drug. It was also learned that the driver was already a suspended driver stemming from another impaired charge less than a month earlier. Assault

On August 31st, we were called to an apartment complex on the north side of the city where a dispute between 2 residents became physical. As a result of the investigation, we arrested and charged a 48 year old with 1 count of assault. He was later released on conditions with a future court date. ST25015723

Mischief/false fire alarm

We were called down to a residential building in the downtown core after reports a resident at the address was causing a disturbance and had pulled the fire alarm unnecessarily. A 49 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested & charged with Mischief and False Fire alarm. We later released the individual with a future court date. ST25015739
