Shoplift(s):
On Friday morning we received a report from staff at an east end business regarding a shoplifting incident from the previous day, the 7th of August 2025. Police attended and reviewed video with staff and were able to identify a male known to them as the suspect. A warrant is currently being sought for the 22-year-old St Thomas resident for theft under $5000.00 as well as fail to comply with probation. Incident ST25014128
On Friday morning we were called to a downtown business regarding another male who had entered the store and left without paying for merchandise. Video is being provided of the incident and the matter is under investigation. Incident ST25014146.
On Friday afternoon Police were called to an east end business for a shoplifting incident. Staff reported that a female attended the store, left without paying for items, and got into a vehicle. Staff were able to provide a licence plate, vehicle description and direction of travel. A traffic stop was conducted and the 34-year-old female suspect was located as a passenger inside. The female was also wanted on three separate warrants for similar offences held by our service. The female was arrested on the new shoplifting charge and on the strength of the existing warrants, and held for weekend video court. Incident ST25014168.
Breach of Undertaking:
While conducting the traffic stop on the suspect vehicle for shoplifting incident ST25014168 officers noted another female passenger who was not wearing her seatbelt and appeared to be attempting to avoid interacting with officers. The female was advised she had to provide a name due to the seatbelt infraction and she initially provided a false name before officers were able to properly identify her through investigation. The 47-year-old female was found to be on conditions not to associate with the male owner of the vehicle, who was also present in the car. The female was arrested for fail to comply with an undertaking and obstruct peace officer. The female was held for weekend video court. Incident ST25014172.
Recovered stolen Packages:
On Friday afternoon an observant passerby noted a female party in a public space in the west end with several amazon packages they believed may be stolen. Police attended and located the 38-year-old suspect who was initially detained for investigation and later arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.00 – the packages were returned to their rightful owners. The female party was later released with a future court date. Incident ST25014148.
Intimate partner violence:
On Friday afternoon we were requested to stand by and keep the peace at a residence while a male party attended and gathered personal belongings from his ex-partner. While on scene the female provided disclosure of an assault and threats that had been made completed earlier in the week by the male. Officers formed grounds for the male’s arrest and he agreed to turn himself in at the police station to speak to the charges. The male was arrested and charged with assault and uttering threats and released on conditions with a future court date. Incident ST25014151.
Recovered stolen bicycle:
On Friday night an officer on general patrol spotted a male known to him with a bicycle that was reported stolen earlier in the week (incident ST25014057). The 37-year-old male was arrested for theft under $5000.00 and later released with a future court date. The bicycle was returned to the rightful owner who was thankful for our assistance. Intimate partner violence/Assault Police:
On Friday night we received a 911 call from a youth who advised that there had been an altercation at the residence between his parents. Police attended and through investigation formed grounds to charge the father with assaulting the mother in the home. The male suspect was heavily intoxicated and had left the residence prior to Police arrival – but was intercepted on his attempted return to the property. The male party was informed of the grounds for his arrest and became combative- eventually officers utilized OC Spray and were able to gain control of the suspect. The 41-year-old male was charged with spousal assault, assault peace officer and resist peace officer as well as public intoxication. The male was held for weekend video court. Incident ST25014187.
