Media release – 4th of September 2023

Suspicious Person:

In the early morning hours a resident in the south end of the city reported finding an unknown male in their backyard – who fled when the caller turned on their exterior lights. The male was last seen running through a neighbour’s yard out of the area. Police checked the area and could not locate the male. A reminder that being proactive with security features- such as motion sensor lights- and keeping valuable items inside it night can help prevent crime related to your property. Incident ST23015674.

Theft:

On the 3rd of September a local victim reported her cell phone stolen while in the downtown core. Through investigation a 39 year old male was identified and arrested for the theft of the phone. The male was charged with theft under $5000.00, and fail to comply with probation. The male was later released on an undertaking with conditions. Incident ST23015682.

Stolen vehicle:

As reported yesterday in a standalone media release – The St. Thomas Police Service is currently investigating the theft of a U-Haul box truck. The vehicle was stolen from a parking lot on Elm St and is believed to have occurred during the early morning hours on September 3rd.  At the time of the theft, Arizona license place AG40751 was attached. If you have any information about this incident or happen to see this U-Haul, do not approach and contact police, referencing incident ST23015685.

Warrant arrest:

On the 3rd of September 2023 London Police Service arrested a 42 year old male that was wanted on a warrant held by our Service. The male was transported to the St Thomas Police Station and held for court. Incident ST23015722.
