Break and Enter:
On Friday Morning we were contacted by a business in the north end that reported a storage shed had been broken into sometime overnight. The shed door was located ajar and showed signed of being pried open. A quantity of tools was stolen as well as an oil/liquid spill kit. Mischief/Theft:
A church in the west end of the city contacted us on Friday afternoon to report that several flower planters had been badly damaged overnight in an apparent attempt at extracting copper flashing inserts from inside. The church is providing video and the matter is under investigation. Shoplift:
Friday evening Police were called to a downtown business for a shoplifting incident. Staff reported that a female attended the store and stole dog food valued at almost $900.00 . Video has been obtained and a licence plate identified for the vehicle driven by the suspect. The matter is currently under investigation. Incident ST25011142.
Warrant arrest:
On Friday night an officer on general patrol spotted a male party that the officer knew reasonable grounds existed for an incident of uttering threats (ST25011067). The 59-year-old St Thomas resident was arrested on the strength of the warrant and transported to the station. The male was later released on an undertaking with conditions. Incident ST25011146.
Shoplift:
Friday evening Police were called to an east end business for a shoplifting incident. Staff reported that a female attended the store and personal products valuing $75.00. Video has been obtained and a 37-year-old female was identified as the suspect from the video as being known to police. There is currently a warrant being sought for arrest of the female. Incident ST25011155.
Search Warrant/Recovered stolen property:
Early Saturday morning members of the property crime unit and uniform patrol executed a search warrant at a downtown apartment seeking stolen tools and property from an incident reported the day prior (ST25011198). On entry to the apartment the 34-year-old resident was located inside and arrested on reasonable grounds for possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00. A search of the apartment revealed most of the tools and equipment reported stolen, which was recovered and later turned back over to the rightful owners. A second 32-year-old male was also arrested at another location in relation to this incident and charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00. A warrant is being sought for a third co-accused in the matter, a 36-year-old male who will also be charged with property obtained by crime over $5000.00. Impaired Driving:
On Sunday afternoon police were dealing with an unrelated call for service in the front lobby of the police station, when the subject of the complaint, a local 38-year-old woman, attended the lobby as well to speak with officers about the matter. Officers noted an odour of an alcoholic beverage on the female’s breath and video from the parking lot clearly showed the female had driven to and parked her car in the visitor’s lot. A roadside screen device demand was issued and the female registered a failure on the screening device. The female was arrested for operate a conveyance in excess of the limit of 80mgs and later provided samples into the breathalyzer that were almost double the legal limit. The female was charged with operate over 80mgs, her vehicle was impounded, and she was released with a future court date. Incidents ST25011292/ST25011293.
Search Warrant – Drugs and replica handguns seized
In the early morning hours members of the Street Crime Unit, the Property Crime unit, uniform patrol and the Critical Incident Response Team executed a search warrant at a downtown address related to an ongoing drug investigation. Several people were arrested as a relation to the search warrant and the ongoing investigation. A quantity of drugs was seized valued in excess of $3000.00 as well as recovered stolen property, two replica handguns and two prohibited weapons (flick knives). Arrested and charged were the following:
- A 39-year-old female resident of St Thomas arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purposes of Trafficking – Fentanyl, adult unauthorized possession of a weapon x2, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.00 x2, as well as fail to comply with release order x4. This female was held for court.
- A 28-year-old female St Thomas resident was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purposes of Trafficking – Fentanyl, as well as possess property obtained by crime under $5000.00 x2. This female was held for court.
- A 39-year-old male resident of St Thomas arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. This male was later released on an undertaking with conditions and a future court date.
- A warrant is being sought for a 50 year-old-male St Thomas resident, to be charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purposes of Trafficking – Fentanyl, as well as unauthorized possession of a weapon x4.
