Warrant arrest:
In the morning on Friday the 22nd of May 2026, we responded to an alarm at a south end business. On arrival it was learned that a 32-year-old male had attended the business to make a purchase prior to opening for the day and entered via an unlocked front door. The male had not committed any criminal actions but it was discovered that a warrant was held by the Waterloo Regional Police Service for obtaining a DNA sample under court order. The male was arrested and a DNA swab was taken by our forensic identification team on behalf of Waterloo Regional. The male was then released unconditionally. Incident ST26009313.
Mischief:
On Friday morning we were called to a residence in the south end of the city for damage to a vehicle parked in the resident’s driveway. The vehicle has several scratches on the hood that was new damage. A neighbour had CCTV cameras that captured the driveway and no suspect(s) were observed on video and it is unknown what caused the damage. Incident ST26009316.
Theft:
On Friday morning a local gas station reported that a male party pumped gas and left without making any attempt to pay for the fuel. A licence plate was obtained and the matter is currently under investigation. Incident ST26009324.
Assault:
On Friday morning we were called to a residence for reports of a youth being out of control. It was learned that a 16-year-old male had assaulted both his mother and grandmother, resulting in some minor injuries, before leaving the residence. The male was located a short distance away and was apprehended under the mental health act due to apparent crisis and a history of mental health diagnosis. The male was taken to hospital and placed on a mental health form by doctors. The male is to be charged with two counts of assault on release from hospital. Incident ST26009325.
Sexual Assault:
A female victim contacted the St Thomas Police Service to report being smacked on the buttocks by an unknown male while out for a walk. The victim reported being on the Whistle-stop trail in the area of Chester Street when an unknown male on a bicycle passed her twice on before smacking her on the buttocks with his hand. The male is described as wearing a dark-coloured jacket with a hood, light-colored pants, short hair and having stubble. Warrant Arrest:
On Friday evening officers arrested a 57-year-old St Thomas man on outstanding grounds stemming from an incident of distribution of intimate images without consent (ST26008373). The male was later released with a future court date and conditions. Incident ST26009359
Bail Violations:
On Friday night we received a call from a male party that reported his ex-partner was at his residence and was currently on conditions not to attend his residence or communicate with him. Officers attended and located a 36-year-old St Thomas woman in breach of the conditions of a previous undertaking related to charges of intimate partner violence on the male caller. The female was arrested and held for weekend video court, charged two counts of fail to comply with undertaking. Incident ST26009370.
Trespass by night:
On Friday night an officer on general patrol in the south end of the city observed a bicycle lying across a sidewalk and circled back to check on the bicycle as it appeared suspicious. The officer located a male party inside a vehicle parked unlocked in a driveway near the bicycle. The male appeared to be looking to steal items from vehicles in the area. The male was arrested and no stolen property was located in his belongings search incident to arrest. The male was transported to the station and later charged criminally with trespass by night and released on conditions. Incident ST26009380.
