Break and Enter:

On Friday the 19th of July in the early morning two residents in the south end of the city awoke to their dog barking and acting unusually. A check of the house located a male that had broken into the enclosed front porch area of the house. The male suspect was described as having shaggy blonde hair, having a slim build, and wearing black shorts, a black hoodie, flip flips and was carrying a reusable grocery bag. The residents chased the male from the property and police later obtained video from a neighbouring surveillance camera. A photo is attached below of the suspect. Warrant Arrest:

On Friday Sarnia Police Service arrested a 33 year old St Thomas resident on an outstanding warrant and transported him from Sarnia to the St Thomas Police Service’s station. The male was held for court and later remanded into custody by the courts. Incident ST24012386.

Warrant Arrest/Shoplifting:

On Friday afternoon officers on general patrol observed a male known to them to be wanted on an outstanding warrant. The 29-year-old St Thomas resident was arrested on the strength of the warrant and transported to cells. Search incident to arrest of the male revealed a number of items from a downtown business that still had tags on them. The business was contacted and through investigation it was revealed the male had stolen the items earlier in the day. The male was further charged with shoplifting and released on an undertaking with conditions. Incidents ST24012406/ST24012407.

Break and Enter:

On Friday afternoon a north end business reported a break and enter to their fenced compound overnight. Police attended and learned that shortly after 4am a male was observed on CCTV entering the property by cutting the fence. The male entered and stole a large quantity of copper wire ground wire. Video is being obtained from the business and the matter is under investigation. Breach of conditions:

On Friday evening officers received a call for service in the south end of the city related to two suspicious persons, one male and one female, acting oddly in a residential neighbourhood. Police attended and located the male and female. Officers learned that the male had previously been convicted of intimate partner violence against the female and currently had a probation order and a release order before the courts – both orders including conditions of non-association with the victim. The male was arrested and charged with breach of probation and failure to comply with release order. The male was later released on further conditions. Incident ST24012440.
