Shoplift(s):

On Friday afternoon we received a report from staff at an east end business regarding a shoplifting incident where a male youth had taken cans of alcohol. Police attended and reviewed video with staff and were able to identify a male known to them as the suspect. When the male was later located he provided a false name to officers. The male youth was arrested and charged with obstruct peace officers and theft under $5000.00 before being released to his guardian on conditions. Incident ST25014607.

On Friday afternoon we were called to another east end business where loss prevention had a female in custody for shoplifting. Police attended and continued the arrest of the 42-year-old St Thomas local. The female party was released with a future court date, charged with theft under $5000.000, and all merchandise was returned to the store. Incident ST25014635.

On Friday night we were called to an east end business regarding a male party that had left the store without paying a for a kit of household tools. Video was reviewed and the male was identified by officers on scene. The male was later located downtown and arrested for theft under $5000.00. The 28-year-old male was released on conditions with a future court date. Incident ST25014654.

Warrant arrest:

On Friday we were contacted by members of the Ontario Provincial Police who had arrested a male party on the strength of a warrant held by our service for fail to comply with a release order. The 45-year-old male was taken to court where he was remanded into custody by the courts. Incident ST2514622.

Indecent Act:

On Friday evening we were at a local east end business on an unrelated matter when an officer was approached by a member of the public who had been shopping at the location with their child when they had observed an older male committing an indecent act inside the store. While seeking the male suspect the officer was approached by a second witness and a staff member who confirmed witnessing a similar act. The male was located in the store and arrested. The 67-year-old St Thomas resident was charged with indecent act and indecent exposure to a person under the age of 16. The male was held for weekend video court. Incident ST25014643.

Warrant arrest:

On Friday evening the 17-year-old youth responsible for causing a disturbance at the hospital earlier in the week (ST25014596) turned himself in at the front counter of the Service to answer to the existing charges. The male was released to his parents with conditions and a future court date – charged assault peace officers x3, assault x2, utter threats and false alarm of fire. Incident ST25014650.

RIDE Program/Impaired operation:

On Friday night officers conducted a RIDE program in various spots in the City of St Thomas. During the RIDE program five roadside screening demands were made. One of the drivers, a 73-year-old female driver out of London Ontario registered a failure on the roadside screening device and was arrested for operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol level above 80 mgs. The female driver later provided samples into the Intoxilyzer that were over the legal limit. The female driver’s vehicle was impounded and she was released with a future court date.
