Media release – 12th of October 2025

Bail Violations:

On Saturday the 11th of October 2025 – Special Constables with the Community Resource Unit located an encampment in the area of Jonas Park. When they attended to offer social services to the individuals and ask them to leave – they discovered that the male and female at the encampment were both on conditions to not associate with each other from previous charges on both related to intimate partner violence. Both parties were arrested for and transported to cells awaiting weekend video court. The 39-year-old male was charged with fail to comply with a release order and fail to comply with an undertaking. The 32-year-old female was charged with fail to comply with a release order. The encampment was cleaned up as part of this incident. Incident ST25018667

Shoplifting:

On Saturday evening we were call to an east end business to report a shoplifting incident that had occurred earlier in the evening.  Several adults had attended the store before leaving without paying for $100.00 worth of merchandise. Video of the incident as well as a vehicle description and licence plate were provided. The matter is under investigation. Incident ST25018699.

Bail Violations:

On Saturday night were contacted by a company that tracks GPS monitors for the justice system, worn by offenders on bail release, regarding a potential bail violation. We were informed that a GPS monitor showed that a 47-year-old male was near the residence of the victim of previous charges, an address that he was on conditions not to attend. The male was later located, arrested and held for weekend video court – charged fail to comply with release order. Incident ST25018707.

Impaired by drug:

On Saturday night an alert citizen reported a male parked in his vehicle slumped over the wheel. Police attended and located the vehicle with the male in the driver’s seat with the ability to put the vehicle into gear. On speaking with the male officers noted signs of impairment as well as paraphernalia and suspected drugs in plain view inside the vehicle. The male was arrested for impaired by drug and later performed poorly on the Drug Recognition Evaluation. Search incident to arrest Police located cocaine, methamphetamine, a digital scale and a large quantity of suspect MDMA pills. The male was charged with impaired operation as well as possession of controlled substances for the purpose trafficking And later released on conditions with a future court date. Intimate Partner Violence:

An officer on general patrol spotted a male and female in the downtown core in a physical altercation over property. The officer stopped and the male immediately fled the scene. Investigation revealed that the male was currently on conditions not to associate with the female from previous incidents of intimate partner violence. A warrant is being sought for the 31-year-old male for fail to comply with release order x4. Incident ST25018714.
