Lost Person, Located
A coordinated effort by members of the St. Thomas Police Service, including the K9 Unit and Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT), led to the safe location of a missing St. Thomas resident on Friday evening.
Just before 8:00 p.m. police received a 911 call from the individual who reported being lost in a wooded area between Waterworks Park and Athletic Park. Initial GPS data from her cellphone placed her near Cora Street, close to a nearby creek.
STPS K9 Unit was deployed and quickly established voice contact with the individual. Officers made their way into dense brush from the rear of St. George Street, carefully navigating the area.
After searching roughly 100 meters into the field, the individual was located on the south side of the river and was successfully brought to safety.
This successful outcome highlights the STPS’s specialized response capabilities and the teamwork involved in high-priority search efforts.
