Long Weekend RIDE Enforcement Results
Nearly 1,100 vehicles were stopped and drivers spoken to during several dedicated RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) enforcement initiatives throughout the city during the long weekend.
During the enforcement efforts, officers administered 18 Approved Screening Device (ASD) tests with all drivers registering a PASS with no impaired driving offences or other infractions were detected.
Events:
- Sunday evening, 230 vehicles were stopped and checked, with no signs of impairment found.
- Burwell Road enforcement involving approximately 100 vehicles, with six ASD tests administered found no infractions.
- On Monday, approximately 500 vehicles were checked and 10 ASD tests conducted, all resulting in a PASS.
- Enforcement conducted at Elm Street and Wilson Avenue stopped 25 vehicles with one ASD test was administered, resulting in a PASS.
- Enforcement on Burwell Road where 215 vehicles were checked found no infractions.
Often considered the unofficial start of summer, the long weekend traditionally sees increased travel and celebrations. The St. Thomas Police Service thank the public for making safe and responsible decisions throughout the weekend.
