Intimate Partner Violence Investigation Leads to Weapons Charges

A 29 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged following an investigation into an intimate partner related incident, Tuesday afternoon.

On March 4th, 2025 officers responded to the report of an assault at an address on the southside of the city. Investigation revealed that the accused had confined the victim inside an apartment during an argument, preventing them from leaving. The verbal argument escalated, resulting in the accused assaulting the victim, causing injuries. The victim was able to contact a family member, who then called 911.

As a result, a 29 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with:

  • Assault
  • Forcible Confinement

During the investigation, police learned the accused was in possession of a prohibited weapon. Based on this information, a search warrant was obtained for the accused’s residence.

At approximately 8 p.m. on March 4th, officers executed the search warrant, locating a functional conducted energy weapon (CEW). Additionally, police discovered 20.9 grams of suspected psilocybin with an estimated street value of $209.

The 29 year old was additionally charged with:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
  • Possession of a Schedule III Substance
