Indecent Act
St. Thomas Police attended a north end residential area for a report of an individual exposing themselves to a passing Jogger. Officers searched the area, and did not locate anyone matching the description provided. Additional efforts are being made to locate the suspect. The incident is still under investigation. ST25005762
Theft Over $5000 of a Motor Vehicle
St. Thomas Police were called to a residential area, just north of Talbot St, for a possible impaired driver. A homeowner observed a truck parked in their laneway, an individual was slumped over inside, and the vehicle was still running. Police upon arrival were given information, that the vehicle was stolen. Officers deployed spikes under the tires, before the driver could attempt to leave. The driver was instructed to get out of the vehicle, and officers on scene conducted a high-risk arrest, without incident. As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old Stratford resident was arrested and charged with Theft over $5000 of a Motor Vehicle, and Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code. A search of the individual resulted additional charges of Possession of a Schedule I Substance-Cocaine, Fail to Comply with Probation Order x2, and Fail to Comply with Release Order x2. An inventory search of the vehicle prior to towing, revealed a replica handgun in the center console. The individual was transported to Police Headquarters for processing, and held for a morning court appearance. ST25005811
Warrant Arrests
St. Thomas Police while on an unrelated incident, located a 30-year-old St. Thomas resident. Information was provided that the individual was wanted on an outstanding LPS warrant. The individual was arrested, transported to Police Headquarters, for processing, and released on LPS’s behalf with a future court date. ST25005782
St. Thomas Police, on general patrol just north of the downtown area, observed an individual the officer believed to be wanted. The 26-year-old St. Thomas resident was advised they were being detained while information regarding the warrant was confirmed. The individual started to walk away, the officer attempted to arrest the individual, when they resisted, and a struggle ensued. The individual was taken to the ground and into custody on the strength of multiple outstanding warrants, and additionally charged with Obstruct Peace Officer, and Resist Peace Officer. St. Thomas Police, while patrolling the downtown area, were flagged down by an individual, requesting assistance. Information was provided that the individual was wanted by LPS. The 25-year-old St. Thomas resident was arrested on the strength of the LPS warrant, and transported to Police Headquarters to wait for LPS to transport back to London. ST25005821
Driving while Prohibited
St. Thomas Police, while on general patrol, observed a motor vehicle travelling eastbound in the downtown area. The officer observed the motor vehicle coming to a complete stop at a green light. Police conducted a traffic stop to check the sobriety of the driver, and information revealed that the driver did not have a valid driver’s license, and in fact was prohibited from driving under the criminal code. As a result, a 31-year-old Southwold resident was arrested and charged for Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code of Canada, and the vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
