As part of the St. Thomas Police Service’s ongoing traffic safety initiatives and targeted enforcement of aggressive driving, officers were conducting speed enforcement along Ron McNeil Line, Wednesday morning.

Just before 10 a.m. a vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed in a posted 60 km/h zone, west of Yarmouth Centre Road. Officers captured the vehicle travelling 108 km/h, 48 km/h over posted speed the limit.

A traffic stop was conducted.

Investigation revealed the individual was currently under a license suspension.

As a result, a 34 year old St. Thomas resident was charged with:

  • Speeding (40+ km/h over the posted limit)

  • Two, Part III summonses for Driving While Under Suspension

  • The vehicle was towed and impounded

The St. Thomas Police Service remains committed to road safety. Excessive speeding and suspended driving are serious offences that endanger everyone on the road. Officers will continue proactive enforcement as part of our effort to reduce aggressive and high-risk driving behaviors in our community.
