On Monday October 21st 2024, the St. Thomas Police Service hosted a Four Counties Traffic Initiative. Traffic Specialists from St. Thomas, Aylmer, Woodstock, London and Stratford Police Services attended the city for a day of thorough traffic monitoring.
The traffic initiative is hosted around different communities within the four counties to address road safety.
As a result:
59 traffic related charges were laid, including:
- 3 sets of plates seized and commercial motor vehicles removed from the road
- 11 speeding charges
- 5 plate violations
- 6 stop sign and other sign violation charges
- 11 fail to wear seatbelt charges
- 8 drive hand held communication device charges
- 4 drive no license charges
- 2 improper muffler charges
- 10 warnings issued
