Fatal Collision – Fail to Remain

UPDATE – St. Thomas, ON – Thursday June 27th, 2024

Charges have been laid in relation to a recent fatal fail to remain investigation that claimed the life of 34 year old Carissa George of St. Thomas

35 year old John Charles Michael McLellan of Thamesville, ON has been charged with the following offences:

  • Fail to stop at scene of accident causing death
  • Two counts of Operation while Prohibited

This is precisely the type of crime that has no place in our City and we will extend all resources to ensure Mr. McLellan is held accountability for his actions.”

The accused has appeared in court today and has been remanded into custody.

Fatal Collision – Fail to Remain

At approximately 1:20 a.m. on Saturday June 22nd, 2024 St. Thomas Police responded to a hit-and-run collision involving a pedestrian that took place at the intersection of Sunset Road and Fingal Line.

A 34 year old St. Thomas resident was transported to hospital by paramedic services with life-threatening injuries and later succumbed to those injuries in hospital.

The driver of the involved vehicle failed to remain at the scene.

Police are appealing to residents of St. Thomas in the Sunset Drive, Stanley Street, Bush Line and Elm Street area who may have residential cameras, residential or business video surveillance or anyone who can identify the vehicle seen in the video below that could assist with the investigation, to please contact the St. Thomas Police Service at 519-631-1224 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers
