St. Thomas, ON – Wednesday July 15th 2026
The St. Thomas Police Service has laid multiple charges following an investigation that began after officers responded to a reported dog attack and motor vehicle collision on Tuesday July 7th, 2026.
Just after 6:30 p.m., officers were called to the area of Sunset Drive after receiving reports of a dog attacking two individuals. Upon arrival, officers located a Dodge Caravan that had struck a building and come to rest against the front of the business.
Two individuals sustained significant injuries during the incident and were transported to hospital for treatment.
The dog involved in the attack also sustained injuries during the incident and later succumbed to those injuries.
Officers reviewed surveillance footage and gathered additional evidence related to the incident.
As a result, a 44 year old St. Thomas man was arrested and charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon
- Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
The man appeared before the courts and was remanded into custody.
While processing the involved vehicle, officers observed a quantity of suspected methamphetamine. The vehicle was subsequently seized pending a search warrant.
On Thursday July 9th, officers executed the search warrant and located and seized:
- 32.3 grams of methamphetamine
- 2.4 grams of crack cocaine
- Brass knuckles
- A digital scale
The estimated street value of the seized controlled substances is approximately $2,700.
The 44 year old St. Thomas man was additionally charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
A 39 year old St. Thomas woman was charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
On Tuesday July 14th, the 39 year old St. Thomas woman attended police headquarters to turn herself in on the outstanding charges. Once processed, she was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
The 44 year old St. Thomas man was processed on the additional charges at the Elgin County Courthouse and remains in custody.
