CRIME PREVENTION WEEK 2025 – Youth Engagement and School Safety

St. Thomas, ONThursday November 6th 2025

The St. Thomas Police Service continues its participation in Crime Prevention Week 2025 by focusing on youth engagement and school safety. Recognizing that early connections between young people and law enforcement contribute to safer communities, STPS remains committed to supportive, relationship-based youth programming.

“Investing in our young people is essential to the long term safety and health of our community,” said Constable Mike Kaiser, School Resource Officer with the St. Thomas Police Service. “Through initiatives that build trust, dialogue and empowerment, we work alongside students, schools and families to foster safe environments and responsible decision making.”

Highlighted programming includes:

  • Kids & Cops – a week long initiative that provides children in our community the opportunity to experience new adventures with members of our Service each day of the week, offering a fun, educational and safe setting for youth.
  • Summer Boredom Busters – offers youth opportunities for physical activity and connection with members of our Service outside of school hours during the summer months.
  • Cru & Sader – the Service’s youth engagement mascots who provided cyber safety education and digital awareness sessions throughout the summer for both kids and parents.
  • Back-to-School, School Supply Drive – an annual STPS initiative ensuring school aged children in St. Thomas have the tools they need for a successful start to the new year.
  • The School Resource Officer program, led by Constable Mike Kaiser, provides proactive support and relationship building within local schools.

STPS encourages parents, students and schools to connect with the Service to learn more about these programs and the ways young people can contribute to community safety.
