St. Thomas, ON – Monday November 3rd 2025
Crime Prevention Week 2025 focuses on “Working Together to Protect Ontario”. Today we highlight ways to protect yourself form cybercrime. Residents are reminded that scammers frequently use email, social media, and other online platforms to target individuals and businesses, attempting to steal personal information or commit fraud.
“Cybercrime can affect anyone, and awareness is the first step in prevention,” said Deputy Chief, Steve Bogart. “We encourage residents to take the time to verify the source of messages, use strong passwords, and report suspicious activity to protect themselves and their families.”
Cyber-safety tips:
-
Do not share personal information online.
-
Use strong, unique passwords.
-
Verify sources of emails, messages, or phone calls before responding.
-
Report suspicious activity to the St. Thomas Police Service
