St. Thomas, ON – Monday July 7th, 2025
The second annual Chief of Police Community Inclusion BBQ brought hundreds of residents together on Sunday July 6th, for an afternoon of connection, celebration and community spirit in Pinafore Park.
Hosted by the St. Thomas Police Service and the Chief of Police Community Inclusion Council, the free event welcomed families and individuals of all backgrounds to the Lakeside Pavilion for food, fun and friendly conversation with members of the police service and inclusion council.
“It’s a true celebration of community,” said Chris Patriquin, Chair of the Chief of Police Community Inclusion Council
“Events like these help strengthen relationships, create meaningful dialogue and bring people together.”
The day featured a community BBQ prepared by the Optimist Club of St. Thomas, who generously volunteered their time and equipment to cook and serve food. Special thanks go to Cliff Summers from the Oneida Nation of the Thames for opening the event with a traditional song and Indigenous drumming, and to MPP Andrew Lawton for attending and showing support.
The event also included a button-making station hosted by EarlyON, which provided a hands-on creative activity for children and families. The Real Canadian Superstore played a key role in helping make the day a success, offering ongoing support as a committed community partner.
The continued success of the Community Inclusion BBQ highlights the importance of collaboration, culture and connection in building a stronger, safer St. Thomas.
