The St. Thomas Police Service is providing an update regarding an incident first reported this morning.
Officers were initially called to an apartment building on Chestnut Street just before 1:30 a.m. after receiving a 911 call from a tenant who reported being assaulted by the accused after she forced her way into the apartment. The victim sustained multiple injuries to the head and face after being struck with a flashlight.
Following an increased police presence at the address today, the accused was safely taken into custody. This resolution was achieved through the coordinated efforts of our front line officers, the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT), the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) and a negotiator.
The 30 year old St. Thomas woman has been charged with one count of Break and Enter and one count of Assault with a Weapon. She was transported to police headquarters and processed to attend court. ST26000264

A 30 year old St. Thomas woman has been charged after police were called to a disturbance at an address on Chestnut Street. Early this morning, officers were called to an apartment building on Chestnut Street after receiving a 911 call from a tenant at the address. The individual called to report that they had been assaulted by the 30 year old accused after she had forced her way into the apartment. Through investigation it was learned the victim had been hit multiple times with a flashlight causing injury to their head and face. As a result, the 30 year old St. Thomas woman has been charged with one count of Break and Enter and one count of Assault with a Weapon. A warrant for her arrest has been requested. ST26000247
