Bike Thefts, Vehicle Entries, Warrant Executions and Break and Enter

Bike Taken from Wellington Street Convenience Store

On Friday August 25th a St. Thomas man had his Red and White Rocky Mountain Vapour 2 bicycle stolen.  He had entered the local convenience store for a short period of time around 3pm and left the bike outside unlocked.  While he shopped a separate male took the bike, leaving behind another bike.  The theft was captured on video, however the suspect is unknown at this time.  Officers are still investigating to learn the identity of the suspect.  ST23015094

A child’s sized BMX style bicycle was located at the corner of St. Annes Place and Crocker Ave. in the city early Sunday morning.  The bicycle has been turned over to police.  If you are missing a similar bicycle please inquire with the St. Thomas police property unit.  ST23015207

 

Theft From Walmart

On Sunday August 27th Loss Prevention at the local Walmart contacted police reporting a theft from the retail store.  Staff member reported that an unknown female attended the store, took a backpack and other various items including a Bentobox.  The total value of the theft is $46.43.  The identity of the female is unknown at this time as video surveillance was not yet available.  This matter is under investigation.  ST23015209

 

Break and Enter to Vacant Home

The owner of a vacant property in the city’s west end arrived Sunday morning to complete renovations to his home only to find it had been broken into.  Sometime over that last week unknown person(s) gained entry to the property under construction, removed copper piping, damaged the electrical panel and removed the water pump from the residence.  The value of the damage has not yet been set as the property is still under construction.  This matter remains under investigation.  ST23015211 

 

Attempt Theft of Motor Vehicle

A Sunset Drive resident woke up Sunday morning to damage to his vehicle.  Sometime overnight suspect(s) entered his unlocked pickup, broke the steering column and attempted to steal his vehicle.  The suspect(s) were unsuccessful and rendered the vehicle inoperable.  The total value of the damage to the vehicle is unknown at this time, and the matter is still under investigation.  ST23015213

 

Warrant Arrests by OPP

Elgin County OPP arrested a Sarnia man wanted by the St. Thomas Police Sunday evening.  The 45 year old man was wanted after a Bench Warrant was issued for Impaired Operation of a Conveyance and Possession of a Controlled Substance.  The man was transported to the St. Thomas Police Service and held for court.  ST23015243

Also on Sunday night, the Oxford OPP arrested a 42 year old Tillsonburg man, who was also wanted by the St. Thomas Police.  In this case the man was wanted on some dated matters and would later be released with a future court date.  ST23015265

 

Dumpster Set Ablaze

Police are investigating after what appears to be an intentional fire set in a dumpster.  Shortly after 2 a.m. Police and Fire attended to a downtown parking lot in response to a fire.  Upon arrival a dumpster in the lot could be seen on fire.  It is suspected that the fire was set intentionally and as such is being investigated as an arson.  ST23015269
