On February 11th 2024, STPS was contacted by concerned citizens in the south end reporting that they had been approached by a male in the middle of the roadway yielding a knife. Officers quickly attended the area and located the male party in question known to them. The male continued to brandish the knife as he moved towards the Officers in an aggressive manner. In response, Officers safely deployed a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW or “taser”) which assisted Police in effecting the arrest. The male was taken into custody without further issue. EMS attended the location as per protocol and transported the male to the hospital as a precaution.
The male has since been charged with the following:
- 1 count of Assault Peace Officer
- 1 count of Carrying a concealed weapon
- 1 count of Possession of a weapon or dangerous purpose
- 1 count of cause disturbance
