STPS media release for Monday February 12th 2024

RIDEs

Overnight February 10th, STPS Officers were out conducting RIDE programs in the city. A large number of vehicles came through the check points with 3 ASDs being administered; all drivers registered a pass and were sent on their way. ST24002080

During Superbowl night, STPS Officers were out and about conducting RIDE spot checks at numerous locations throughout the city. Over 400 vehicles were checked with no infractions or impaired drivers to report. On behalf of the St. Thomas Police Service, thank you all for driving sober. ST24002173

Mischief

On February 10th around 1630hrs, 2 unknown males with skateboards passed a residence on the south end of the city. The males proceeded to damage 4 solar lights before leaving the area. Police continue to investigate and review video in the area. Bench warrant/Fail to comply

On February 11th 2024, STPS Officers attended the back of a downtown business for reports of a possible encampment. Speaking with the parties located, Officers identified a 35 yr old St. Thomas resident wanted on an outstanding bench warrant after missing court. Police also learned that the individual was on conditions not to be with the other person present, therefore the individual was arrested and brought back to the STPS station where they were processed and released with a new court date. Fail to comply with probation

STPS Officers were dispatched to a south end residence for a disturbance. Upon arrival, Officers determined that a 35 yr old male at the home was on a probation order with conditions not to attend the address in question. The male was subsequently arrested and transported to STPS station where they were later released with a new court date and new conditions. ST24002158

Warrant arrests

STPS officers arrested a 36 yr old individual on an outstanding probation warrant. The individual was later released with a new court date. ST24002180

STPS officers arrested a 48 yr old individual wanted on an outstanding bench warrant for failing to attend court. The individual was released with a new court date. ST24002181

London Police Service officers located and arrested a 33 yr old individual in London on an outstanding STPS bench warrant. The individual was transferred to STPS Officers who transported the individual back to the STPS station where they were held for court. ST24002193
