St. Thomas, ON – Thursday December 11th 2025
St. Thomas Police have arrested a 27 year old St. Thomas resident following an intimate partner violence investigation on Mitchell Street that resulted in a temporary road closure and a significant police presence on Wednesday morning.
On Wednesday December 10th 2025 at approximately 7:15 a.m., officers were called to a residence on Mitchell Street for the report of an intimate partner violence incident. Police located the victim who reported being assaulted by the accused and locked out of the residence.
Multiple attempts to contact the accused at the door and by phone were unsuccessful, prompting the deployment of the St. Thomas Police Service Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT). Circumstances of the call required additional support resources, including the K9 Unit, crisis negotiators, and a critical incident commander. Negotiations were initiated and the male surrendered himself to police and he was arrested without incident.
As a result of the investigation, the individual has been charged with:
- Three counts of Assault
- One count of Assault Cause Bodily Harm – Choke, suffocate or strangle
- One count of Uttering Threats – Cause Bodily Harm
He was processed at police headquarters and later released on an undertaking with several conditions and a future court date.
