St. Thomas Police Arrest Local Man in Connection with Armed Robbery
The St. Thomas Police Service has arrested Jeff Berko, 36, of St. Thomas in connection with the armed robbery that occurred on Tuesday evening at a retail location on Wellington Street at First Avenue.
Berko has been charged with:
- Robbery Using Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Disguise with Intent
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
The accused was processed at police headquarters before being transported to the Elgin County Courthouse to answer to the charges.
As the result of the court appearance, Berko has been remanded into custody.

The St. Thomas Police Service is investigating an armed robbery that occurred on Tuesday September 16th, at approximately 10:06 p.m. at a plaza at Wellington Street and First Avenue in St. Thomas.
A male suspect entered the business demanding money while brandishing a handgun. The suspect fled the area on foot with a quantity of cash. No physical injuries were reported.
Suspect Description
- White male, approximately 5’11”–6’ tall, thin build
- Black Puma sweater with a white stripe down the arms
- Light-coloured hoodie underneath with the hood up
- Dark ballcap and burgundy balaclava covering his face
- Blue jeans, black running shoes with white soles
