Drug trafficking and firearm investigation leads to the arrest of two St. Thomas residents
As the result of a drug trafficking and firearm investigation led by the St. Thomas Police Service’ Street Crimes Unit, two St. Thomas residents have been arrested.
On Tuesday March 26th 2024, with assistance from the Aylmer Police Service, 20 year old Tyler Norton was located in Aylmer and subsequently placed under arrest.
A search incident to arrest found Norton to be in possession of the following:
- 36.5 grams of cocaine with a street value of $3650.00
- 36.5 grams of methamphetamine with a street value of $4015.00
- 0.9 grams of crack-cocaine with a street value of $100.00
- 1- 6 mg hydromorphone pill with a street value of $15.00
- 152- .5 mg clonazepam pills with a street value of $304.00
- empty dime bags
- functioning digital weigh scale
- A Rolex Watch
- 1 loose 40 caliber round
- A 9mm Colt handgun.
Total value of seized drugs is $8,084.00
Norton was transported to St. Thomas Police headquarters where he was charged with:
- one count of carrying a concealed weapon contrary to section 90 of the Criminal Code
- one count of unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- one count of knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
- one count of possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- two counts of careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
- one count of possession property obtained by crime under $5,000
- one count of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- one count of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
20 year old Norton was processed and held for a morning court appearance where he was remanded into custody. ST24004737
At approximately 6:25pm, with the assistance of the St. Thomas Police CIRT team, STPS’ Street Crime Unit executed a search warrant at an address in the west end of the city of St. Thomas.
19 year old Joshua Hawley was located and placed under arrest.
The following item were seized from the address:
- .22 calibre loaded rifle
- .22 calibre rounds
As a result, 19 year old Joshua Hawley has been charged with:
- one count of unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- one count of knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
- two counts of careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
Hawley was transported to police headquarters where he was processed on the charges and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24004737
