Warrant
A 28 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Wednesday December 6th 2023, officers located the individual who was wanted by our service after being identified as the person responsible for a theft that occurred at a Talbot Street convenience store, earlier this week. The 28 year old was processed and released on an appearance notice. ST23021530
Theft
A 32 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Wednesday December 7th 2023, officers were called to a retail store on Talbot Street for the report of a shoplift in progress. Upon arrival, police located an individual known to them to be wanted on an outstanding warrant with our service for shoplifting and failure to comply with probation, stemming from an incident in November. The individual was in possession of merchandise from the store that had not been paid for. As a result, the 32 year old was charged with theft under $5,000 and was transported to police headquarters to be processed. The individual was released on an undertaking with a future court date. In an ongoing effort to help protect the residents of St. Thomas from falling victim to online scams and fraud, the St. Thomas Police Service would like to remind the community on ways to protect yourself and things to consider while online:
- Always get a second opinion from family or friends regarding the situation
- No employer will reach out to you through apps like Whats App or Telegram
- No employer will ever pay you in crypto currency
- No employer will ask you to invest your own money
- Use the Canadian Anti- Fraud Centre as a resource to familiarize yourself with current scams and additional ways to protect yourself
