Stolen Vehicle/ Police Pursuit

Just after 8am on Thursday, police were called to a residential area in the north end of the city for reports of a stolen vehicle in progress. The vehicle owner was outside of his vehicle when he observed an unknown person get inside and drive away. Police quickly located the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit was discontinued due to concerns for public safety after the stolen vehicle collided with a marked police cruiser. During the incident, officers positively identified the driver as 28 year old Nolan Nogueira. Nogueira is charged with Theft Over $5000, Operation of a Conveyance while Prohibited, Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance x 2, Flight from Police x 2, and Driving While Under Suspension x 2. Nogueira was arrested a short time later by another police service and remains in custody. ^ST23021560

Warrant Arrest

On Thursday afternoon police were called to a Talbot St business for reports of an unwanted female. Police attended and while speaking with the female learned that she was wanted on a bench warrant for failing to attend court in relation to the following charges: Theft Under $5000 x 4, Mischief Under $5000, Resist Peace Officer, Assault Peace Officer, Fail to Comply with Probation x 2 and Fail to Comply with Undertaking. The female was arrested and transported to the Elgin County Courthouse where she was remanded into custody. ^ST23021579.

Intimate Partner Violence Arrest

Later in the afternoon on Thursday a 47 year old St. Thomas resident turned themselves in at the police station. The accused is charged with one count of Assault in relation to domestic related incident. The accused was processed and later released with a future court date. ^ST23021585.

Fail to Comply with Probation

Late on Thursday evening, police received information that a 17 year old St. Thomas youth was in breach a condition of his probation. Investigation revealed the youth is currently bound by a curfew on two separate probation orders and that the youth was currently breaching both curfews. As a result, a warrant has been requested for the arrest of the youth party. ^ST23021597

R.I.D.E

Members of the St Thomas Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police teamed up to conduct a R.I.D.E program in the City. All motorists were found to be sober. Thank you to everyone stopped for keeping our roads safe by driving sober. ^ST23021604.
