Assault
A 40 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday November 28th 2023, St. Thomas police were called to investigate an incident that occurred between two parties known to each other. Through investigation it was learned an altercation between the two had turned physical and as a result, police formed ground to charge the 40 year old resident with one count of Assault. The individual was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST23020946
Warrant arrest
A 56 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday November 28th 2023, officers at the Elgin County Courthouse were dealing with the individual who was known to them to be wanted by our service on an outstanding warrant for Failure to Comply with Release Order. The 56 year old was processed and released with a future court date. ST23020990
A 33 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday November 28th 2023, officers at the Elgin County Courthouse were dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter when they became aware of an outstanding warrant with our service stemming from an incident the previous day where the 33 year old was found to be breaching a probation order and failing to comply with their release order. The St. Thomas resident was arrested and processed and was remanded into custody. ST23020997
A 37 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday November 28th 2023, St. Thomas Police were called in regard to an unwanted person. Upon arrival, police located an individual known to them to be wanted on an outstanding probation warrant. The individual was processed and released on an appearance notice with a future court date. Public Mischief
A 17 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday November 28th 2023, STPS were called to investigate an incident at a retail store on Talbot Street. Through investigation and review of video surveillance, the report was found to be untrue. As a result, the youth was charged with public mischief, processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST23021001

Approximately 40 drivers were spoken to during a RIDE check on Tuesday November 28th 2023. STPS is happy to share no infractions were found. ST23021028

In an ongoing effort to help protect the residents of St. Thomas from falling victim to online scams and fraud, the St. Thomas Police Service would like to remind the community on ways to protect yourself and things to consider while online:
- Always get a second opinion from family or friends regarding the situation
- No employer will reach out to you through apps like Whats App or Telegram
- No employer will ever pay you in crypto currency
- No employer will ask you to invest your own money
- Use the Canadian Anti- Fraud Centre as a resource to familiarize yourself with current scams and additional ways to protect yourself
