A road safety strategy aimed at behaviours that put drivers, passengers and other road users at risk: impaired driving due to alcohol, drugs or fatigue, aggressive driving, distracted driving and driving without a seat belt.
This project is now complete and resulted in:
Speeding – 12 fines
Disobey stop sign – 7 fines
Drive no or improper license – 3 fines
Drive handheld communication device – 1 fine
Improperly worn seatbelt – 1 fine
Additional Highway Traffic Act – 3 fines
Two Seatbelt/RIDE lanes were conducted with 320 vehicles checked, 1 seatbelt violation addressed and no impaired infractions were found
1 – Impaired operate with more than 80mgs; motor vehicle collision
Multiple warnings were issued for permit validations (expired plates)
STPS would like to remind vehicle owners that renewing your plates is mandatory and must be completed online. There is no longer a fee for plate renewal however your plates must still be renewed. Failure to do so can result in a fine.
